With over 25 committees to choose from, there is something for everyone at the 2019 U.S. Senior Open. All volunteer positions listed below are 18 and over unless otherwise noted. Some committees require additional training and background checks.
During the registration process, you will be able to pick your top three choices for committee involvement.
Access Control: Work in conjunction with the Corporate Hospitality Committee and the contracted security company to ensure championship guests have the proper credentials to enter various restricted areas.
Admissions/Will Call: Sell and issue daily tickets, manage Will Call
Corporate Hospitality: Work in conjunction with the Access Control Committee and the contracted security company to ensure championship guests have the proper credentials to enter various restricted areas.
Disability Services: Provide assistance to those spectators whose physical limitations prevent them from accessing the championship course. Some on course cart driving necessary. Must be 25 years of age or older, provide a valid driver license and clean driving record.
Golf Carts: Will manage the inventory and distribution of Championship golf carts to authorized personnel. Also, assist with any golf cart issues that arise throughout the day.
Leaderboards: Located throughout the course, on-course leaderboards indicate players' status and standing in the Championship. Volunteers are responsible for posting the names of the leading players and their status for the number of holes played.
Marshals: Manages gallery movement and decorum aiding players by locating golf balls and providing security as needed.
Merchandise: Assist with various functions inside Merchandise Pavilion such as operating cash registers and customer service. Staff "Check Tent" for spectators to leave parcels that have been purchased in Merchandise Pavilion.
On-Course Supply: Responsible for stocking coolers on the tee boxes and distributing programs and daily tee times. Coolers should be stocked with ice, water and sports drinks on each tee. Other areas of responsibility include, but not limited to are Championship and USGA offices, Caddie Hospitality, First Aid offices and etc.
Shuttles: Assist with transporting Players, USGA staff, Championship Staff and other Championship personnel to certain areas of the golf course.
Standard Bearers (Junior Committee): Responsible for carrying a two-sided scoring standard, which is a portable status board and for posting player's scores to keep spectators up to date on how each player stands with respect to par. Transportation: Meet players, officials and designated guests at the airport to assist them with their transportation needs
USGA Stats (Lasers) Assist through the use of computer-operated laser-measuring devices to determine ball position information to record various aspects of player statistics, including but not limited to each ball's location on a hole, drive distance and distance to the hole. May require the ability to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms. Significant training and additional time commitments will apply. Volunteer Hospitality & Orientation: Assist with set-up for all orientation sessions and volunteer uniform distribution and exchange. Uniform distribution and exchange days are held prior to the championship. Also responsible for the operation of the volunteer headquarters facility during championship week.
